Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the difference between The Grief Recovery Method® and other support groups?
A. One big difference is that I don’t separate people by the type of loss they’ve experienced. Everyone is welcome no matter why their heart is broken. Another thing that makes me unique is that the Grief Recovery Method® has a start and an end. Although many traditional grief support groups offer a safe environment for a griever to talk about their feelings, talking only provides short-term relief. Talking about your feelings can be beneficial, but it’s not enough. The Grief Recovery Method® is designed to guide people in emotional pain through a series of actions to feel better. I have a system that is proven to work. The Grief Recovery Method® is the ONLY grief support program with the designation of being "Evidence Based" and effective. Researchers at Kent State University found that The Grief Recovery Method® goes beyond a “best practice” or “promising approach” in dealing with the emotional pain of loss. This means there is high confidence that those who follow the Grief Recovery Method® Action Plan can find happiness in their lives despite the loss they suffered.
Q. Do you take insurance?
A. I do not accept insurance at this time.
Q. What types of losses can I work on?
A. Together we will identify which loss to focus on during the program. The third step in the program involves examining all past losses and prioritizing which one to address initially. Grief is cumulative, and each new loss often triggers memories of previous ones, leading to a tendency to address multiple losses simultaneously. Focusing on one loss at a time allows for completion of the necessary work, facilitating a more effective approach to addressing subsequent losses.
Q. Do I need to attend every session?
A. Yes. It is important that each participant can commit to all 7 weeks. While an absence is sometimes unavoidable, missing a session will affect your experience of recovery. You will need to reschedule the missed class and could incur a fee.
Q. Do you offer refunds for the course if I'm not "recovered"?
A. Refunds are not offered, however, understand that recovery does not happen overnight, you will feel and see the results of the program over time, whether over weeks, months, or years. If an emergency should arise and you are unable to complete the program, I will hold a spot for you up to 6 months from your start date to complete the program.
Q. Do you offer any other courses?
A. Yes, I also offer a 4-day Alumni Course, Pet Loss Course, Local Group Courses, and Helping Children with Loss Course. I also offer After Care Coaching calls once you have completed a program. All Programs can be found in the Shop tab.
Q. How do I schedule my course?
A. First, I recommend a Zoom Discovery call, this is a quick fifteen-minute "get to know you" call. Once you have purchased your Program you will receive email instructions with next steps.
